In an essay titled "Dear Tatum" for The Small Bow, Kevin recalls early memories of being sent for cigarettes, discarding drugs and witnessing his mother offer him substances. He writes about learning to separate the woman who was his mom from the public persona he calls "Tatum," explaining he now mostly calls her "Mama."
